NDSM shipyard

GraffitiNow that the majority of the school related stress is gone (there’s some more to come in the coming weeks, but it’s nice and easy at the moment), I was finally able to hang out with my buddy Willem again. We had a great day, cycled over 80 kilometers, and shot some photos here and there.

At some point, we decided to check out the NDSM shipyard located in the very northwestern part of Amsterdam. We knew there was some cool stuff over there, but we hadn’t really been there. So took the ferry across the IJ and cycled to the shipyard.

Once there we found this really awesome spot, a beautiful urban location with a lot of buildings and cranes in decay. We spent a good two hours shooting photos there, but I’m sure I could spend some more time there. I’m definitely going back there soon, I might want to arrange some kind of photoshoot on that spot.

So what does this place look like? Well let’s get to it:

Awesome crane in decay. I think it's possible to climb into that thing, but I'm afraid that's rather dangerous..

This is some kind of concrete slope, but I can't put my finger on what this thing used to be. It could be anything from a bridge to one of these slides they use to put new boats in the water.

Some rusty old boat, I wonder if that thing still floats...

This is where it gets really awesome, I love these graffiti drawings. The good thing: they're all over the place.

Another one of these slopes, this one really looks like one of these things they use to get newly crafted boats in the water. But far from sure that's what it is.

To conclude, this place is awesome and I need to go there more often. And hopefully I won’t be too busy in the coming weeks so I’ll actually have times for these things. Tell me if you know/like this spot!
