I’m on this forum called Photodrome, this is a Dutch forum which is all about photography. I learn a lot on the forum, I sometimes post photos and people comment and tell me what I can improve. That’s great and really helpful, because you often don’t spot all your own mistakes. Enough about the forum, let’t get to the challenge.
On the forum, they often do a Challenge, this is a sort of competition which is mostly about creativity. It goes like this: 16 people join and are put in 4 pools. Every pool gets a subject, and they have to take one photo about that subject. Then everyone on the forum can vote which photo they like most and the two best photographers of each pool are going for the next round where they’ll get a new subject and have to take a new photo. Until there is a winner.
This time, I joined the competition for the first time and I made it to the second round, which isn’t really far, but for a first time I’m pretty happy.
Here’s my first photo (subject: from beneath)
This photo did very well, I was getting 77% of the votes which I think I can call a major victory. I was really glad with this.
Unfortunately though, the next subject was really hard: Fishday… I absolutely didn’t know anything.. Eventually I looked for a fish stand somewhere in town, but they were all closed for some reason… Then I remembered the fish statue in front of the theater building. So I took a photo of that, I knew it wasn’t going to be great but at least better than empty hands. So here it is:
This photo wasn’t great and unfortunately my opponent did have a good photo. So I didn’t win this round.. So that’s where it ended for me.. I am definitely joining again next time and I’m going to try again and I’m pretty happy with my first shot so I call this: not too bad.
Do you like these shots? Please tell me in the comments.
